About the author of
Apollo GT: The American Ferrari

The author with Apollo GT No. 1003, the first production car, which he rescued from oblivion in 2005.

Born in Midland, Michigan in 1953, Robb Northrup is the consummate auto enthusiast. His first sports car ride was as a five-year-old in a Chevrolet Corvette, driven by his father during a test drive. This was quickly followed by a jaunt in a baby blue Triumph TR3. Then he experienced a white-knuckle ride in an aging Jaguar XK120. He was smitten for the rest of his life…

While his day job found him creating advertising campaigns and knocking out press releases, his automotive passion led him to a succession of interesting MGs, Jaguars, and the odd Corvette and Porsche, culminating in the rescue of Apollo coupe number 1003 - the first production car. This craving also fostered a moonlighting free-lance career, writing retrospective features for automotive enthusiast publications such as AutoWeek, Corvette Fever, Motor Trend's Sportscars of the World, and MG World, among others.

In addition to his interest in sports cars and automotive history, Robb also collects and restores vintage trumpets and plays trumpet and cornet in both orchestras and Jazz bands.

He is the father of three boys and the grandfather of six and lives with his wife of nearly 50 years, Christie, in Mesquite, Nevada.
